twenty four.

twenty four before 24

so i'm back with another listy post, yesterday (well today as i write this) i turned the big two four, i have that feeling of feeling very young but very old all in one go (you follow, no me neither)
i think its good to start another year with a few things to aim for, from small to big its good to try and push yourself, even a tiny bit. i could have done twenty four things whilst i'm twenty four but it would have taken me a v v long time and i would like to have a G&T before the evening is over.

1. be braver
even if its being less shy at the gym (just to add to my red face issues there) and go to events when i'm invited (i don't go many as i'm worried about standing in a corner on my own)

2. try contacts
i am incredibly short-sighted, i wave at the wrong people or ignore them regularly. i really hate wearing my glasses, so its time to stop being such a short-sighted sally.

3. take care of myself
twenty three was a bit if a roller coaster year for my health and if anything it has taught me that improving my diet and lifestyle for the better really matters.

4. explore more
i mentioned this in my last post but i really want to explore england more, we have such beautiful sights that need seeing!

5. go to gigs
jay and i only went to our first gig together last year, we have been together for six years it blows my mind that it took us thing long. a mass of hot mass of people if not my dream but seeing your fave band is kinda worth it

6. be less scared of change
this is my worst habit, being a creature of familiarity the thought of moving or doing something differently always makes me tense, probably one to ease myself into...

7. try to be not so fussy with food
since i've had to clean up my act with my diet recently it makes me wish i wasn't so fussy with vegetables. i may be too late on this one but i'm going to try and get some more green into my meals (i'm more of an orange veg kinda gal)

8. be more adventurous with my style
i know i've talked about this before, but i basically just buy different versions of things i already own to fill my wardrobe. i'm also aware that i am super uncool so trying slightly more 'trendy' pieces is a bit scary.

9. photograph more
i know i share my adventures ect here, but i want to start shooting weddings/lover/families more as i miss it

10. stress less
being perpetual worrier also makes you a stresser, both i am guilty of, being a bit more 'chill' to things that really shouldn't stress me out is am aim i really want to achieve

five good things.

five things 3

i thought i would interrupt the usual scheduling with five things i have been really enjoying at the moment, as you can't always see outfits of me in those bloody jeans eh!

the nightshift
my lastest obsession on nexflix has been the nightshift, a doctor drama (all v attractive) set in texas and about as much drama that you can shake a stick at. i highly recommend, i even got jay hooked and we are waiting (impatiently) for the new season in june.

i was saying to someone a few months ago 'i'm not really a zara girl, its all a bit cool for me' well, let me tell you. i am currently obsessed, i've got the basket bag, theres a embroidered palm print top i desperately need and don't get me started on this dress. i work near england's biggest zara, which is very risky for the bank account let me tell you!

loriley sesh
as you know i recently had to give up gluten a while back, now there are a few instagrams i follow that give me all the tips and tricks for restaurants/dishes to try in london so i don't end up with salad for every meal but my current fave is super babe loriley (she also has excellent hair and v cute bunnies) she has a blog too. warning, it will make you hungry/drool a tiny bit...

i have loved pinterest for a long time, i've had it since you had to be invited to join and i will probably carry on loving it forevz. i am one for just spending a morning pining to my hearts content with a cup of tea and some snacks, admittedly i get allot of wanderlust from there (espesh i have no overseas holibobs planned for this year), but i love keeping a beautiful visual list of all the places i want to visit one day. if you fancy joining my pin gang you can here

as i don't have any holibobs planned that aren't out of the country i have basically been planning as a few trips in england so i don't spend the whole year in london/essex. first up is two trips to norfolk which i am v much looking forward to (previous posts with me declaring my love for norfolk can be found) however when we usually visit we spend our time walking or drinking large amounts of tea with family so this year i am making sure allot more exploring is going to be done. i am also trying to organize a few more trips so i don't spend all my holidays in bed watching netflix (a portion will obviously be allotted to that fantastic pass time though)

i won't lie to you friends, i clearly have a style rut of white shirt, those darn blue jeans and some sort of wicker bag. i think its a style rut i can handle though, especially when you wear a shirt that has sleeves as wide as your head (i felt totally extra and it was great!) i think it will aslo look really pretty with a denim a-line skirt when it actually warms up (i think everything looks great with an a-line skirt but ya know...)
i've completely become a blogger cliche and got 'that' zara basket, but you know what its a really useful size and for under twenty quid i can see why everyone and their nana owns it, plus it has pompoms?!

i proudly present you my new pride and joys, my first pair of designer shoes. admittedly i got them at a sample sale so although they still feel like a an 'achievement' to buy them, even though they were quite a lot less than their usual five hundred pounds price tag. i've been breaking them in by wearing them round the flat with in my pj's with some big socks on, so on trend i know!
there is something so 'springy' about a light wash jean and a cream blouse (i realise this sounds very basic bitch) but i'm a big fan, this little flarey sleeve number has been sitting in my wardrobe for a few years and always manages to break free from the back of the cupboard every time spring rolls around.
this outfit is obviously accompanied by a bloody massive coat at the moment as england has decided that we should go back to winter as we had clearly had a enough spring (will i ever stop talking about the weather, probably not..)

five to try if you have lacklustre skin.

biore 4

i'm back with one of those mystical beauty/skin care post that rolls round every once and while on here, my skin is a bit pesky so once i find a routine i like i tend to keep to it hence the lack of snazzy beauty content all the time. my skin has been a bit pesky at the moment with a dry/spotty combo so i thought i would share some products that have been busting those problems

i' m a big fan of bioderma, as is everyone but this french pharmacy staple tends to be an old faithful to many. i've been trying out their new blackhead/spot eliminating cream and it has fulfilled its promise to reduce my black heads and is great at soothing those angry red spots.

my skin has gone through quite a dry phase recently this little number has a helping bring back some life and moisture, i like to pop this on before my make up to make sure i don't have any annoying dry patches that my foundation likes to cling to, i would say don't use too much before applying make up as it can roll off a bit which i have also noticed with the la roche posay products.

glycolic acid has been all over the interwebz recently so i obviously decided to add to it...
this serum is a great addition to my nighttime routine it evens out my complexion and contains aloe vera that adds to that soothing feeling when you apply it (so a thumbs up from me)

i have been pretty loyal to estee lauder moistures (when i can afford them) i find they never break me out, ensure my skins is hydrated all day and sit under my foundation, basically its great and i highly recommend.

when all those other moisturisers i've just mentioned aren't quite cutting it i chuck this guy on for a bit of TLC, it does remind me that gel that boys used to wear in their hair in year 7 but once its on the skin it feels faaaaab, i like to pop it on before bed so when i make up in the morning my face feels great (not sure how many times i've said hydrated of great in this post)

my love for navy and polka dots isn't slowing down, no i don't have a problem you do...
i realised as i walked out the door that i looked like an extra from grease which is no bad thing but at nine am in london you do get some funny looks!
i'm a big fan of the wicker basket trend making the rounds this spring, i've had this little number in my wardrobe for ages but its only make its debut on the blog now (it will make making many more, don't you worry)

i write this one easter egg deep and my pj's thinking about moving and getting dressed, that glamorous blogging life eh?

i've only recently come on board with the whole gingham trend, i've had a few dresses like this sitting in my asos basket for a while but when i saw this little cutie the other day i knew it was love, think how much food baby you can fit under that bad boy! i also got the matching top... me a problem never?
its been 'what i like to call spring' the last week in london which has been b-loody lovely, there is nothing like walking to work in the sunshine (well maybe being on a holiday in the sunshine) but i do like cracking out the old milk bottle legs when the weather allows which is a small win.

there i was saying i really need to branch out from the ol' jumper and jeans combo but here we are again...
i recently managed to split my trust blue jamie jeans right up to the bum, a glamorous look as i'm sure you can all imagine, so i began the 'great jean hunt' (you all know what i mean)
i wanted to try something different from my 'sprayed on skinny jean' usual look, i've seen liv and kim rocking the more straight leg/more relaxed kinda jeans and got a little ispo.
so i end up back in trusty topshop upon doing a little research and come out with these bad boys, its fair to say its love.

i've kept the fact i went to india last year under my hat a little, i don't have too many tales to tell as it was a work trip so i was mainly in a car or mall but i can't resit a picture diary can i?
hoping my mum isn't reading this but i did nearly die in a tuktuk (from what i've heard everyone who visits has this brush with death) i also lost my hotel room key in a taxi for a day...

anyone else really enjoying my super tenuous title, it seems my sunday brain couldn't think of anything more original....
throughout my late teens and early twenties (kinda still in my early twenties but you know until last year is what i mean) i've always had long hair, its my safety blanket, the frame for this old moon face. last year i decided enough was enough and that i would cut it because daily dreadlocks are no way to live and it frankly felt a bit ridiculous.
i will admit i am pretty lazy when it comes to hair cuts, so it had been nine months since i went for 'the chop' and was getting the itch (not literally, that would be worrying) so get a good few inches chopped off.
i get my hair chopping done by ian at brookes (i highly recommend if you're an essex/hertfordshire dweller) i have been going there for a mere ten years...
fun fact, i have tried to shoot this jacket three times over the last two weeks, twice i have been rained off and once i couldn't find a good location (it would be nice not to be so picky about pictures) but best laid plans and all that.
